Senior Financial Analyst, Capital Markets (Multifamily)

About the Role

The Capital Markets Senior Financial Analyst (CMFA) will support transactions generated by Cushman & Wakefield’s Capital Markets brokerage services, focusing on multifamily valuation analyses. This role involves complex financial analysis, Excel valuation model creation, due diligence, and translating findings into high-level summaries for brokers. The ideal candidate will be based in Los Angeles, CA, and work on-site in a local Cushman & Wakefield office. Travel and work outside normal operating hours may be required to meet project deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead the execution of complex broker financial analysis and modeling requests, including project management for high-value client opportunities and portfolio transactions.
• Prepare pro forma statements, discounted cash flow analyses, and Excel-based financial models, considering current and historical market conditions.
• Conduct audits of existing financial models to ensure accuracy of inputs and validity of assumptions, identifying data gaps.
• Perform market research to analyze property and market conditions, synthesizing findings clearly and concisely.
• Review tenant leases to abstract key data points and identify issues impacting financial analysis.
• Communicate with brokers and teams to confirm request scope, review findings, and make timely revisions.
• Identify and address missing information or unclear requests to ensure accurate analyses.
• Assist and mentor CMFA Analysts as they gain experience.
• Develop high-level analysis summaries, identifying transaction considerations, trends, outliers, and inconsistencies.
• Participate in developing training resources and materials for continuous analyst development.
• Attend internal and external stakeholder meetings to present and discuss analyses.
• Draft and prepare Offering Memorandums, Broker Opinion of Value, Request for Proposals, and related content.
• Perform quality control reviews to ensure work product meets scope requirements and identify themes for further training.
• Assist with market research for prospective transactions.
• Participate in broker team calls and meetings as needed.
• Liaise with Commission Accounting regarding broker commissions, outside broker payments, and discrepancies.
• Track and develop knowledge of real estate fundamentals and industry trends.
• Perform other related duties as required or requested.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, or related field preferred; combination of education and corporate work experience may be considered.
• 2-5 years of financial analysis and modeling experience; Capital Markets experience a plus.
• Strong knowledge of real estate financial concepts.
• Extensive experience with multifamily underwriting; knowledge of student housing and/or self-storage is a plus.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to write effectively and succinctly for marketing deliverables and internal stakeholders.
• Passion for client delivery, with a strong emphasis on high-quality work and meeting deadlines.

Pay

The compensation for this position ranges from $93,500.00 to $110,000.00, depending on factors such as geographic location, experience, qualifications, and applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
