About the role
We are looking for a Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) to join our small but dynamic and fast-paced finance team. This role will be an integral part of the finance team supporting transportation initiatives and responsible for financial forecasts, variance analysis, operational performance reporting, and board/investor materials. The SFA will play a critical role in ensuring the company executes its strategic plans and achieves profitable growth.
This role will serve as the liaison between Finance and the Transportation team, enhancing our ability to forecast, set targets, and measure Transportation cost performance across the company. You will also partner with others on the FP&A team to enhance ship margin analysis, reporting, and forecasting, and aid in other strategic projects and ad-hoc work as necessary. This role reports to the FP&A Manager.
Responsibilities
- Complete thorough analysis on transportation initiatives each month and communicate key performance drivers and variances to plan to senior management.
- Collaborate with partners to strategize and report on weekly performance, especially related to Transportation.
- Provide a timelier outlook on shifts in ship costs and margin.
- Manage relationships with the Transportation team to build bottoms-up forecasts and identify areas of risks and opportunities.
- Support the development and implementation of models and processes for new strategic transportation initiatives.
- Prepare the annual operating plan by engaging with the Transportation team to build appropriate plans and targets and convert this into the financial budget.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reporting presentations for investors and the board, highlighting key business metrics, variance to budget, and other relevant trends.
- Provide insightful study of key operational business metrics, develop margin analysis, and communicate findings to respective business partners.
- Utilize professional knowledge, business acumen, financial concepts, and company objectives to develop and improve models and procedures.
- Drive continuous improvement and automation in existing files and processes.
- Find feasible workarounds to complicated files.
- Continuously work with management to steer improvements in the company’s approach to developing key strategies.
- Proactively provide solutions to business needs in creative and effective ways.
- Analyze and help optimize investments behind key company strategies.
- Network with stakeholders across the company to gain a better understanding of key objectives and how you can help achieve them.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
- 3PL or relevant experience in Transportation required.
- 3-5 years of experience in FP&A or another related field.
Skills
- Excellent financial modeling skills and understanding of financial statements.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to various stakeholders.
- High comfort level with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Working knowledge of NetSuite, Smartview, SQL, PowerBI, and Power Query is preferred.
- Ability to nurture business partnerships with senior management and teams.
- Proactive self-starter with the ability to meet deadlines within time constraints and detail-oriented.
- Able to think critically about business challenges while simultaneously absorbing new knowledge and information.
- Passion for results and a love for getting into the details, with a commitment to accuracy and integrity.

Pay
The full base pay range for this position is $83,608 - $139,347. In addition to base salary, this role includes the opportunity to be eligible for participation in the Company’s discretionary bonus plan based on Company’s plans and in accordance with Company’s policies.
