Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this on-site role in Newport, Minnesota, serves as a strategic finance partner, translating product costing, pricing, production, inventory, and enterprise data into actionable insights that strengthen margins, cash flow, operating efficiency, and investment decisions.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate accurate costing across product lines and sites, preparing unit-cost analyses and recommendations to support pricing, margin, and operating decisions.
- Analyze production, capacity, resource utilization, inventory, and shipping performance to improve efficiency and margins, including trend analysis of positive and negative activities.
- Partner with operations and production leaders to understand activities and ensure accurate, timely analysis of production, sales, inventory, and shipping data.
- Model strategic scenarios and assess ROI for process improvements, asset decisions, and capital investments; support budget cycles and demand forecasting.
- Integrate enterprise data, develop management reporting, identify trends, and automate recurring analytics to streamline financial processes.
- Lead the Finance ERP workstream, strengthening scalable financial and operational processes and partnering with IT/IS to integrate data from multiple sources.
- Translate analysis into actionable recommendations, influence business decisions, and train stakeholders to use financial data effectively.
- Evaluate pricing performance and recommend actions affecting pricing, product mix, margins, and cash flow.
- Perform additional financial analysis as needed, including inventory reporting, valuation, and ROI evaluations for asset-management decisions.
Requirements
- Five to seven years of experience in financial analysis, production variances, and product costing; nursery or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
- Experience with standard costing (activity-based costing) methodology and ERP implementations.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, ERP systems, and Power BI.
- Strong analytical skills to translate complex information into clear recommendations and practical business actions.
- Excellent communication skills, including writing, speaking, and active listening.
