Senior, Financial Analyst

Base salary range: $105,000 - $112,000. This position is eligible for annual incentive pay and continued salary growth. Compensation will be determined based on market, geography, skills, education, and experience. American Water is committed to pay equity.

Responsibilities

• Lead collaboration with the business to understand key business drivers and operational metrics; deliver effective analysis of results on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
• Provide analytical support to all levels of management, including ad-hoc reporting for state(s), line of business, and corporate partners
• Participate in budgeting and reforecasting processes; collaborate with operational and financial business partners to develop budget assumptions and supporting schedules
• Support business development by developing financial models
• Support regulatory filings and data requests with financial data and analysis
• Support Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance controls assigned to the team
• Handle other special projects and ad hoc assignments

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Business, or a closely related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
• Advanced degree, CPA, CMA, or CFA preferred
• 5 years of accounting or financial-related experience required
• Regulated utility experience preferred
• Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint skills
• SAP and Hyperion experience preferred
• Knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (USGAAP)

Schedule

Hybrid working schedule: 3 days in office and 2 days remote.
