Senior Finance Manager
About the role
We are seeking a Finance Manager to serve as the business partner for Element’s North America IoT Division. In this role, you will maximize division performance by driving organic growth through productivity improvements, margin evolution, and capital expenditure investments. You will also lead planning and forecasting activities, manage month-end close processes, and fulfill other reporting requirements.
Element is a global provider of lab-based Testing, Inspection, and Certification services, empowering confident decisions in highly regulated industries.
Responsibilities
- Act as a business partner for the Division Director and General Managers by deeply understanding their business challenges and opportunities.
- Monitor and improve business performance, challenging the management team through detailed financial analysis and recommendations in areas such as margin and productivity.
- Produce accurate and meaningful monthly reports and management information while adhering to reporting requirements.
- Proactively guide, support, and challenge Operational & Commercial teams to enhance performance, share insights, and devise strategic and tactical plans.
- Lead the ongoing business cycle of budgeting, re-forecasting, monitoring, and delivering against targets and timelines for the division.
- Oversee the capital expenditure process, ensuring timely and quality requests, tracking expenditure, and monitoring financial returns.
- Play an instrumental role in supporting and evaluating initiatives to maximize EBITDA.
- Assure governance of the business, including compliance with Element processes, procedures, and control environments, such as the delegation of authority framework.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting with a minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in accounting and/or finance, with a mix of both preferred.
- Strong understanding of accounting and forecasting principles to make educated decisions.
- Demonstrated experience partnering with a dynamic commercial structure to drive results throughout the revenue process.
- Experience in budget and forecasting cycles, including preparation and presentation of work products.
- Strategic or corporate-level experience in performance monitoring and reporting, strategic and business planning, and supporting organizational change.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with excellent attention to detail. Ability to interpret, disseminate, and present information to a variety of internal and external audiences in a way that informs and influences decision-making.
- Experience establishing and developing performance monitoring tools and reports for different audiences.
- Proven ability to think and plan strategically and achieve buy-in from senior leaders.
- Experience working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Ability to work in partnership with people at all levels, demonstrating strong skills in constructive challenge, facilitation, collaboration, networking, and influencing.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, including the ability to balance and independently manage workloads with multiple concurrent priorities. Self-motivated with the ability to set and deliver to deadlines.
- Advanced MS Office skills (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel in particular). Experience with OneStream is a plus.
- Ability to demonstrate credibility and proven success in driving operational improvement as a value-added partner.
- Emotionally intelligent professional with excellent interpersonal skills and highly developed influencing and communication skills.
- Comfortable working as part of a team and able to fit seamlessly into a team environment.
- Broad commercial understanding with the intellectual capability to develop ideas and translate them into workable objectives and plans.
