Senior Field Service Technician (AMS)

About the role

The Sr. Field Service Technician is responsible for conducting maintenance functions, procedures, activities, and duties related to gas compression packages. Responsibilities include assisting fellow technicians with preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, installing, and commissioning both gas-fired and electric-driven compressor packages. The objective is to gain proficiency in carrying out advanced maintenance, new equipment installation, and overhaul tasks with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Represent the company in a professional manner at all times while providing outstanding customer service that aligns with Enerflex visions and values.
• Submit accurate field service reports, expense reports, timesheets and other necessary paperwork daily.
• Direct, coordinate, and perform job activities in alignment with the project's goals and objectives.
• Provide full leadership and training to both new and junior-level Field Technicians.
• Independently and efficiently diagnose engine and compressor failures.
• Provide input to the Supervisor on personnel and material needs for optimal job planning.
• Lead and complete accurate and timely rebuilds/overhauls of compressors, engines, and controls on gas compressor packages in the field under adverse conditions and without supervision.
• Accurately troubleshoot electrical systems, controls, and unit control panels such as Murphy, Altronic, and Allen Bradley at an advanced level.
• Complete advanced engine tuning functions to adjust engine performance and emissions for multiple major OEMs (CAT/ Waukesha).
• Respond to and repair recurring problems and emergency services as needed independently.
• Independently lead the installation of new units, including commissioning and start-up inspections, with no supervision.
• Perform mechanical inspection using micrometers, pressure gauges, electronic diagnostic equipment and other specialty tools independently.
• Be on a call-out rotation and effectively make emergency repairs.
• Recognize and comply with Health, Safety and Environmental rules and policies that are applicable to each location.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and advanced vocational/technical training.
• 10+ years applicable experience.
• Proof of certification from CAT/ Waukesha (or equivalent) to:
  • CAT Gas IC
  • CAT Gas II
  • CAT Electrical
  • Ariel Basic
  • Ariel Mechanical
  • CAT 3500 ADEM III
  • CAT 3500 ULB
  • Waukesha VHPC
  • CAT 3600 ADEM III
  • CAT 3600 Master Mechanic
  • CAT Failure Analysis
  • Waukesha 9390
• Stay current on all updated OEM model specific training.

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to stand and walk for long periods of time, stoop, squat, bend, and kneel.
• Lifting requirements vary; may weigh up to 75 pounds on an infrequent basis and 35 pounds on a regular basis.
• Push and pull valves, climb stairs and ladders on a regular basis.
• Environmental factors include heat and humidity; onsite locations could be cold, rainy and muddy.
• Wear a hard hat, safety glasses and ear plugs for up to 3 hours at a time and steel toe boots all day.
