About the role
The College of Engineering (COE) and the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA) at the University of Michigan invite applications for full-time tenure-track or tenured positions in quantum science and technology to begin August 28, 2023. As part of an initiative in quantum science and technology at the University, 8 new faculty will be hired. These faculty can be rostered in the following departments (jointly if appropriate): LSA/Physics, COE/Electrical and Computer Engineering, LSA/Math, COE/Computer Science and Engineering, LSA/Chemistry, COE/Materials Science and Engineering, depending on the best fit for the applicant.
Responsibilities
- Conduct high-impact research in quantum science and technology
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in quantum science and technology
- Engage in scholarly activities such as publishing research papers, presenting at conferences, and mentoring students
- Participate in university and departmental committees and initiatives related to quantum science and technology
Requirements
- A PhD in a relevant field (e.g., physics, electrical engineering, computer science, chemistry, materials science)
- Strong record of research in quantum science and technology
- Excellent teaching skills and experience
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Qualifications
- Research expertise in quantum science and technology
- Experience in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in quantum science and technology
- Ability to mentor students and contribute to the educational mission of the university
- Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom and beyond
Skills
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across different disciplines
