About the role
Serves as the primary engineering lead for site-wide facility shutdowns, ensuring effective cross-functional coordination, risk mitigation, project planning, and successful execution. Manages relationships with external service providers and landlord-managed resources while developing and monitoring KPIs to ensure service excellence and operational reliability.
Responsibilities
- Lead facility engineering projects that improve reliability, performance, compliance, and operational efficiency of critical facility and utility systems.
- Serve as the lead coordinator for annual facility shutdowns, including planning, scheduling, resource coordination, issue escalation, and execution oversight.
- Manage and support critical utility systems including HVAC, clean steam, WFI, RO water, compressed air, and related facility infrastructure.
- Develop and implement KPIs to monitor utility system performance, landlord-managed services, and facility reliability metrics.
- Lead facility-related change controls, risk assessments, deviations, investigations, and CAPA activities while ensuring compliance with GMP requirements.
- Manage external vendors, contractors, and service providers to ensure adherence to Takeda's safety, quality, and technical standards.
- Partner with Validation, Quality, Manufacturing, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to deliver compliant and sustainable engineering solutions.
- Support deployment and continuous improvement of engineering standards, procedures, documentation, and best practices.
- Provide technical expertise during regulatory inspections, internal audits, and quality assessments related to facility systems and infrastructure.
- Lead sustainability and energy reduction projects that support site performance goals and Takeda's environmental commitments.
- Develop project schedules, cost estimates, budgets, and implementation plans while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
- Support facility security and infrastructure improvement projects, including access control and facility monitoring systems as needed.
- Mentor junior engineers and serve as a technical resource for cross-functional teams.
- Identify risks proactively and implement mitigation strategies to support business continuity and operational excellence.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of engineering experience supporting facilities, utilities, infrastructure, or manufacturing operations within a regulated environment.
- Experience managing facility and utility-related engineering projects from planning through execution.
- Hands-on experience supporting HVAC systems and critical facility infrastructure.
- Experience working with clean utility systems, including WFI, RO water, clean steam, compressed air, or similar systems.
- Experience within GMP-regulated industries such as pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, food, chemical, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated experience supporting change controls, deviations, investigations, CAPAs, and engineering documentation.
- Proven project management experience, including scope development, scheduling, budgeting, and stakeholder management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across multiple functions and organizational levels.
- Ability to lead complex initiatives and drive results without direct supervisory authority.
Qualifications
