About the role

The Senior Fabricator produces components for multiple construction project types, including high-precision parts, and designs and builds jigs and fixtures for repeatable fabrication. This role supports JE Dunn’s strategy, vision, and values, with tasks directed by a supervisor.

Responsibilities

Core Prefabrication Duties

• Operate automated and manual shop equipment using cut lists to produce sized materials and repeatable parts.
• Apply basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) to production tasks, such as cutting parts or assembling components.
• Assemble multiple components cut to specific sizes into final products.
• Package and load materials and assemblies for transport to project sites.
• Accurately read and interpret tape measures.
• Maintain cleanliness of the shop, equipment, and common areas.

Senior Fabricator Duties

• Set up automated and manual shop equipment for new operations.
• Design and build jigs and fixtures to produce repeatable parts.
• Use measuring and marking devices to lay out parts for fabrication.
• Read and interpret shop drawings, construction drawings, and other production-related documents.
• Program automated equipment for complex, repeatable parts.
• Apply basic trigonometry to determine angles from given measurements.
• Direct and lead tasks for a small production team.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (Preferred).
• Apprentice and/or Vocational/Technical/Trade training (Preferred).
• Equivalent relevant experience may substitute for education requirements.
• 5+ years of commercial construction, manufacturing, or fabrication shop experience (Preferred).

Skills & Abilities

• Ability to perform work accurately, completely, and in a timely manner.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow up on inquiries promptly.
• Familiarity with common construction materials and shop equipment.
• Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, both internally and externally.

Working Environment

• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
• May be exposed to extreme temperatures, moving equipment, noise, and exhaust fumes in a maintenance facility.
• Must be willing to work non-traditional hours, including overtime as needed.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• May require use of a respirator.
• Must be comfortable working at projected heights and in narrow workspaces.

Physical activities may include:

• Frequent: Standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, carrying, swinging, reaching above shoulder, pushing, pulling, balancing.
• Occasional: Sitting, viewing computer screens.
