About the role

The Senior Cost Controller maintains the Project Cost Controls System and Management Reporting for a high-value project. The role is accountable for project set-up, cost reporting, forecasting, budget management, cash flow visibility, and earned value analysis across assigned projects. Ensures that project cost performance is accurately measured, risks and opportunities are clearly reported, and commercial project management teams receive reliable information to support timely business decisions. Supports the Department Head to compile historical cost data, benchmark information, and lessons learned.

Responsibilities

  • Project Setup: Liaise with Procurement & Subcontracts Leads, Commercial Leads, and Project Managers to review and set up Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Work Package/project budgets.
  • Cost Reporting & Controls:
    • Establish and maintain cost baselines, control budgets, and cost breakdown structures in alignment with Exyte procedure and contract requirements.
    • Prepare reports on revenue (as sold), internal budgets, commitments, budget transfers, change and variation orders, forecasts, and cash flows in line with internal management reporting requirements.
    • Monitor and update actual and committed costs periodically, analyzing trends.
    • Verify cost allocations according to Work Package.
    • Prepare monthly Cost Report (MS Excel), GPR, and Client’s Reports as required.
    • Prepare monthly Cash Flow and weekly Cash Flow.
    • Interface effectively with engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, scheduling, and finance teams to ensure integrated project control.
    • Monitor and identify variance from the project’s current budget and previous Estimate at Completion (EAC), reporting accordingly.
    • Maintain Change Order, Budget Transfers, Trends Register, and prepare supporting documents.
    • Assist Project Managers and Project Commercial Managers with estimates and supporting documentation for Change Orders (CO) to be submitted to Clients.
    • Prepare billing memos with supporting documents for Finance to prepare invoices and entries into SAP.
    • Liaise internally with Finance/Procurement/Operations to maintain efficient and accurate recording of cost expenditure and manage discrepancies for preparation of accurate cost reports.
    • Troubleshoot cost abnormalities in reporting data and liaise with relevant parties as necessary.
    • Provide support to Finance for External Audit and Tax Audit.
    • Support the Project Manager in the risk review process and maintain an updated risk register.
    • Coordinate with all disciplines and provide input to the Manpower Management System (MMS).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in quantity surveying, business administration, engineering, construction management, finance, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in commercial project management, cost control, project controls, quantity surveying, or financial project management.
  • Strong experience in project cost forecasting, budget control, earned value analysis, cash flow forecasting, and management reporting.
  • Experience in engineering, construction, advanced technology facilities, data centers, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or other complex project environments would be an advantage.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of cost control, cost forecasting, project accounting, and commercial reporting.
  • Good understanding of project budgets, cost breakdown structures, work breakdown structures, earned value analysis, percentage-of-completion reporting, and cash flow management.
  • Ability to interpret project cost data and convey insights to the Project Management Team.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning systems (preferably SAP S4 Hana), project controls, cost management, or reporting systems.
  • Strong written and spoken English.
  • Ability to communicate complex cost and commercial matters clearly to senior stakeholders.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience managing cost control and reporting in large or complex projects.
  • Experience in international EPC project delivery environments.
  • Experience liaising with internal and client project management teams.
