Responsibilities

  • Underwriting and managing new and renewal complex liability accounts.
  • Applying technical underwriting expertise in risk selection, pricing, account administration, and portfolio management.
  • Evaluating difficult-to-place General Liability, Products Liability, and Excess Casualty risks.
  • Identifying opportunities that align with underwriting appetite and business strategy.
  • Developing and executing account-specific strategies for new and renewal business.
  • Serving as a trusted advisor by providing consultative solutions to brokers and agents.
  • Managing an assigned territory through strategic planning and operational excellence.
  • Tailoring service plans to meet the unique needs of each client and distribution partner.
  • Influencing account pricing, structure, and terms to achieve profitable outcomes.
  • Building and maintaining a robust pipeline of business opportunities.
  • Driving the sales process through effective planning, execution, and performance monitoring.
  • Identifying and generating cross-sell and up-sell opportunities across The Hartford's product portfolio.
  • Effectively communicating The Hartford's value proposition to brokers and agency partners.
  • Holding internal and external business partners accountable while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and service.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of Property & Casualty carrier underwriting experience required, with a strong preference for casualty underwriting expertise.
  • Demonstrated success building and maintaining relationships with internal and external business partners.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • High-energy, resilient self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and desk management skills.
  • Goal-oriented with a track record of delivering results.
  • Able to challenge the status quo and compete to win in a dynamic marketplace.
  • Advanced technical underwriting knowledge and sound judgment.
