Summary of Purpose
Leads monitoring, evaluation, and assistance activities for nuclear power stations in their assigned functional area, interacting with utility personnel, INPO/WANO management, and industry professional groups.
Essential Functions
- Acts as lead Engineering & Equipment Reliability evaluator on continuum site visits, WANO peer reviews, and assistance visits as described in the Peer Review and Continuum Manual
- Works with the industry to improve performance in the materials and equipment reliability areas
- Recognizes gaps to excellence in engineering and equipment reliability
- Discerns significance, scope, and causes of plant problems and strengths
- Works with the industry to assist and influence improvements in the engineering & equipment reliability areas
- Mentors new employees through the engineering and equipment reliability qualification processes
Travel
Frequent travel (up to 40%) is required to visit nuclear sites and other locations domestically and internationally.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Advanced skills in building and maintaining positive relationships, handling complex conflicts with key stakeholders, and ensuring alignment with INPO’s mission
- Advanced knowledge of INPO/WANO policies, practices and procedures
- Working knowledge of engineering programs such as FAC, heat exchangers, breakers, and large motors
- Advanced knowledge of AP-913, Equipment Reliability Process Description
- In depth, comprehensive understanding of equipment and integrated plant systems, as well as thorough knowledge of design engineering and configuration management processes
- In depth, comprehensive knowledge of the nuclear utility industry
- Advanced proficiency in solving complex and multifaced problems using data, trend, and analysis to inform decision making
- High levels of communication skills to convey complex ideas and strategies in a clear and compelling manner
- Advanced ability to work independently as well as in teams/groups, to align long-term organizational strategies
- Ability to lead functional area and cross-functional teams
- Ability to work and maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive/private information
Education, Licenses, and Certifications
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
- PREFERRED: Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, physical science or other related area
- Preferred: Navy nuclear training
Experience
- Required: Six or more years of professional work experience
- Four or more years of experience in relevant specialty area
- Two years of supervisory or equivalent experience
Additional Requirements
- Work Context: Must be able to work prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to work under minimal supervision
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and crawl
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds
- Must be able to travel domestically or internationally by plane or car
- Must have a US state or territory issued Real ID compliant driver’s license or identification card
