Senior Estimator-Milling/Paving

About the role

The Senior Estimator oversees the estimating process for all projects, performs market analysis, reviews past performance, and analyzes historical costs. They lead and mentor a team of estimators, develop estimating processes and procedures, and prepare comprehensive estimates for large DOT projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of estimators to drive results.
• Review plans and specifications to define project scope and construct competitive bids.
• Prepare detailed estimates, quantity takeoffs, and cost breakdowns.
• Conduct extensive market analysis.
• Assign estimating responsibilities for each project.
• Identify project risks and their magnitude.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to gather project information.
• Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to secure competitive pricing.
• Evaluate and analyze bids from subcontractors and suppliers for competitiveness and compliance.
• Ensure proficiency with MASSDOT and CTDOT Standard Specifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (preferred).
• 5+ years of experience in asphalt paving/heavy highway construction estimating.
• Proven record of estimating projects between $5M and $25M.
• Proficient in B2W Estimating Software, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project.
• Strong verbal and written English skills.
• Legal right to work in the U.S.

Schedule

Full-time position with up to 20% travel by personal vehicle to offices and construction sites throughout New England.

Pay

$120,000 – $150,000 yearly salary.
