Senior Estimator - Mechanical/Process Piping

As a Senior Estimator, you will operate with minimal oversight on preconstruction teams, frequently serving as the principal point of contact with the design team and the owner. You will lead all types of project delivery methods and demonstrate competence in both basic and advanced estimating functions.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic estimating functions including quantity takeoff, pricing development for all trade work (including mechanical and electrical scopes), and abstracting (including the development and analysis of trade bids).
• Develop conceptual estimates for review by senior personnel.
• Provide justification and reconciliation of Sundt estimates for projects involving third-party consultants.
• Lead the preparation of estimating documents/deliverables with minimal oversight, including budget uploads, purchasing plans, subcontracts, purchase orders, General Conditions, and project logistics.
• Perform advanced estimating tasks such as serving as the prime point of contact for hard bid pursuits, coordinating constructability reviews, and applying appropriate indirect costs (insurance, taxes, fees).
• Coordinate with operations to ensure a reasonable plan (schedule, logistics, staffing) is developed.
• Provide feedback to the design team regarding cost and constructability.
• Train and mentor estimators on staff.

Requirements

• Four-year engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience.
• Project experience in one or more key market sectors identified by the business unit (preferred).
• LEED accreditation and DBIA certification, or willingness to obtain (preferred).
• Proficient use of all Microsoft Office Suite programs.
• Ten or more years of experience in an estimating role.
• Successful history executing projects as the prime point of contact with minimal oversight for project teams.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to wear personal protective equipment (steel-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.).
• Frequent reaching above shoulder heights and below the waist.
• Occasional stooping, kneeling, or bending.
• Limited use of telephone, computer systems, email, or other electronic devices to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors.
• Must comply with all safety standards and procedures.
• Occasional climbing of stairs, ladders, etc.
• Frequent use of hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry, or feel objects.
• Frequent interaction with people during a shift/work day.
• Occasional lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects.
• Sitting, standing, or walking short distances for the entire duration of a shift/work day.

This is a safety-sensitive role, including tasks that could affect the safety and health of the employee or others, such as operating equipment, handling hazardous materials, or working with potentially flammable/combustible materials.
