Position: Senior Estimator

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Estimator responsible for leading the preparation and coordination of conceptual and final cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects, ensuring accurate and competitive bids.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and/or coordinate preparation of full estimates on work.
• Provide complete conceptual and final estimating input on work.
• Interact with owners, A/E’s and contractors to resolve technical matters during negotiation and contract execution.
• Supervise and mentor other estimators.
• Maintain and develop systems and information needed to prepare bids.
• Make necessary pre-bid contacts with other contractors and sub-contractors for quotes, coordination and scheduling.
• Perform and organize quantity take-offs from plans.
• Perform preliminary survey of plans and specifications for bid/no bid decision by Division Managers.
• Cook up the bidding process with managers.

Qualifications

• Strong math and analytical skills as well as an eye for detail.
• Technical knowledge of structural bridge construction.

Special Skills

Deep knowledge of heavy civil construction methods, structural systems.

Travel Requirement

Open to travel to job sites as needed.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds from ground level to waist level.
• Must be able to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands.
• Acceptable corrected vision (in both eyes) and acceptable corrected hearing required.
• Must be able to bend, squat, kneel and crawl.
• Must be able to work outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot or humid weather.
• When in the office or other locations in meeting-type situations will sit a major portion of an 8-hour day.
