About the role

You will step into a pivotal role within our Design & Technical division, directly shaping our project pipeline through strategic public works bidding. This position offers the autonomy to manage the full bid cycle while leveraging your deep technical expertise to secure high-value institutional and federal contracts. Responsibilities

• Source competitive bid opportunities through our established network and prequalified public districts.
• Lead project job walks, capture comprehensive site photos, and document real-world field conditions.
• Compile vital pre-bid paperwork, including subcontractor need forms and exact bid bond requirements.
• Solicit and analyze a minimum of three competitive vendor prices per subcontractor task to ensure cost leveling.
• Build and maintain comprehensive estimate spreadsheets, ensuring all custom line items are precisely filled out.
• Perform advanced Bluebeam digital takeoffs for earthwork, grading, concrete, framing, and hardscape scopes.
• Cross-reference historical cost data across all pricing tiers to ensure maximum bid accuracy and competitiveness.

Requirements

• Minimum of 15 years of construction estimating experience, specifically focused on public works or school construction.
• Proven proficiency utilizing Bluebeam Revu for detailed quantity takeoffs and document management.
• Advanced capability in developing Microsoft Excel spreadsheets with dynamic formulas for cost models.
• Solid background estimating diverse scopes including concrete, grading, framing, hardscape, and site supplies.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

• Experience tracking and bidding projects governed by DSA requirements and public agency bidding laws.
• Demonstrated success maintaining a win/loss database to refine strategic pricing trends.
• Established relationships with regional subcontractors and material vendors within civil and utility sectors.
