Senior Estimator
About the role
The Senior Estimator plays a crucial role in providing accurate take-offs and cost estimates for High Concrete projects. Reporting to the Manager of Estimating, this position requires advanced knowledge of project drawings, collaboration with sales, and coordination with internal resources.
Responsibilities
- Use of modeling-based programs to create take-offs and prepare cost estimates.
- Review scopes of work based on project drawings, design specifications, production procedures, and appropriate addendums.
- Collaborate with Sales to obtain all pertinent data per customer's bid process, including prints, specs., samples, project descriptions, start and completion dates, and competition.
- Collaborate with Sales on value engineering opportunities as needed or requested.
- Collaborate with internal resources and/or Manager of Estimating to provide technical (detailed) input for estimating projects and prepare estimates for processing when required.
- Manage invitations to bid for subcontractors and vendors to obtain the best possible price(s) and complete bid estimates on schedule.
- Maintain strong and trustworthy relationships with current subcontractors and vendors and establish relationships with new ones.
- Prepare analysis with recommendations to change appropriate standards on an annual basis.
- QC check estimates prepared by other Estimators.
- Represent the estimating department as needed at company/corporate meetings.
- Perform other duties and assignments as required within the scope of job responsibilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in technical field or construction related field preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years construction/precast experience or equivalent training with knowledge to apply it in performance of estimating.
- Advanced modeling skills (TEKLA, Revit, SketchUp, etc) required.
- Proficient in fundamental mathematics.
- Understanding of software products utilized by the company, i.e., Microsoft software, computerized estimating systems.
