What You’ll Do
- Lead Preconstruction Efforts: Oversee all aspects of preconstruction, including estimating, budgeting, logistics, scheduling, and execution.
- Own the Estimating Process: Review proposal specifications, drawings, and pre-bid meetings to determine scope and content for competitive estimates.
- Drive Strategy & Execution: Develop and communicate estimates for complex projects, ranging from conceptual budgets to detailed hard bids.
- Collaborate & Build Relationships: Partner with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to align on project goals and ensure financial success.
- Be a Trusted Advisor: Participate in project pursuit efforts, assisting with presentations, proposals, and interviews to secure new work.
- Expand Market Presence: Actively network and attend industry events to build relationships, uncover project opportunities, and strengthen Granger’s reputation in Ohio.
- Mentor & Develop Talent: Provide guidance and training to junior estimators, helping them grow and positioning the department for long-term success.
- Innovate & Improve Processes: Leverage new technologies and best practices to enhance estimating accuracy, efficiency, and overall project success.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in building construction management, civil engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in commercial construction estimating and preconstruction.
- Expertise in construction materials, systems, and best-value decision-making.
- Strong proficiency in office, estimating, scheduling, and accounting software; experience with CostX is a plus.
- Sharp analytical skills to accurately calculate, assess risk, and develop creative, resourceful solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present ideas confidently to diverse audiences.
- A collaborative, team-first mindset with the ability to build trust and long-term relationships.
- An assertive, highly motivated, and self-starting approach to work.
