POSITION SUMMARY
Masters core construction principles and demonstrates a solid understanding of how projects come together from early concepts through execution. Builds credibility as a reliable team member within McCownGordon and across the trade partner community, strengthening and expanding existing industry relationships. Develops a strong understanding of building systems and applies that knowledge when reviewing, interpreting, and analyzing trade partner and supplier proposals. Engages with partners to clarify scope and ensure alignment, contributing to well-informed and accurate estimate development.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Estimating, Preconstruction & Project Development
- Supports the Lead Estimator in setting up the estimate.
- Demonstrates strong working knowledge of company estimating platforms and systems, using them effectively to contribute to accurate and consistent estimate development.
- Expands understanding of preconstruction processes by applying foundational concepts to a wider range of project conditions and scopes.
- Attends and participates in project meetings and produces meeting minutes.
- May pursue cross-training opportunities across the organization to strengthen understanding of project and field execution.
- Manages RFIs, Prebid notes and questions.
- Presents information to internal McCownGordon team efficiently.
- Attends trade partner networking events.
- Buils and maintains relationships with trade partners through events, solicitation and scope review process.
- Trade Partner Bidding
- Independently manages assigned trade scopes from solicitation through bid analysis, with oversight from the Lead Estimator.
- Collects and analyzes all proposals (including labor hours, material and equipment) from trade partners and vendors ensuring alignment with bid packages, project design, and specifications while identifying any gaps or inconsistencies.
- Cofirms that proposed materials meet project requirements and bring forward considerations that may impact cost, availability, or constructability.
- Bid Preparation and Quantity Survey
- Follows up with trade partners prior to bidding to determine whether they are participating in the bid.
- Populates trade partner and supplier contact information to the bid tabs.
- Aids Lead Estimator in populating scope content for the bid tab sheets and analyzing bids.
- Shares knowledge and trains others in various Quantity Takeoff methods and proper organization of electronic data.
- Reviews the complete set of documents and the appropriate items that have been quantified.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- 2+ years commercial construction in estimating or project management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
