About the role
The Senior Equipment Engineer will be responsible for the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of critical automated test equipment used to validate and manufacture AMD's next-generation semiconductor products. This role requires a hands-on approach to solving complex equipment issues, driving uptime, and improving manufacturing efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Own the reliability, performance, and operational readiness of ATE lab equipment and infrastructure.
- Serve as the technical escalation point for complex equipment issues, leading root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Drive equipment uptime, yield improvement, and manufacturing efficiency through data-driven problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop and maintain maintenance plans, troubleshooting procedures, response flows, and Best Known Methods (BKMs).
- Partner with engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams to support new technology introductions and equipment readiness.
- Mentor technicians and engineers while leveraging automation, analytics, and AI-enabled tools to improve diagnostics and operational effectiveness.
Requirements
- Experience supporting semiconductor Automated Test Equipment (ATE) in a manufacturing or lab environment.
- Strong troubleshooting expertise with electrical, mechanical, and electromechanical systems, including root cause analysis and hardware debug.
- Hands-on experience with ATE platforms and associated hardware, including Advantest, Cohu, and Hontech/Huntech equipment.
- Knowledge of oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, digital multimeters, schematics, and electronic test methodologies.
- Experience developing technical procedures, maintenance documentation, and training materials to support operational excellence.
- Familiarity with data analytics, automation, Python, or AI-assisted diagnostics used to improve equipment reliability and manufacturing performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Relevant certifications in semiconductor manufacturing, equipment engineering, reliability, or automation are a plus.
