About the role

The Senior Environmental Specialist/Environmental Engineer supports environmental compliance and is an integral part of the corporate EHS&S team. This role promotes an environmental excellence culture, pursues continuous improvement, and positions employees and facilities as leaders in environmental performance within the industry. The position works in alignment with the America’s Building Products national platform and CRH Policies, Procedures, and Commitments, partnering closely with operational and business leaders to ensure EHS&S standards and goals are achieved.

This is a remote position; the candidate must live near a major airport.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and assist with maintenance of all environmental permits required for company plants, sites, and projects, with a focus on air permitting during Capital Projects and Mergers.
• Prepare and submit all required reports for USEPA and applicable state agencies, including Annual Emission Inventory, emissions source testing, greenhouse gas reports, air and water permit modifications and renewals, and other agency notifications.
• Assist in ensuring compliance or monitoring tests are conducted according to timeframes outlined in environmental operation permits.
• Assist in maintaining documentation for compliance activities such as inspections, audits, complaints, and investigations, verifying information is updated in EMS.
• Report all violations of environmental permits, rules, and regulations to company management and, when required, to regulatory agencies.
• Coordinate, conduct, and teach compliance reviews, inspections, and internal assessments to ensure adherence to all applicable environmental permits, rules, and regulations.
• Stay informed regarding changes to environmental legislation, trends, and best practices, assessing their potential impact on company operations.
• Work with sites and projects to review required documents to ensure ongoing compliance and ensure documentation is maintained in EMA.
• Develop and update environmental-related requirements and procedures with IPG and CRH.
• Ensure all compliance and annual reports are completed and documented in EMS.
• Inform internal field employees, managers, and outside contractors of company environmental policy, best practices, and compliance requirements.
• Develop and implement environmental compliance plans for programs such as air quality, stormwater discharges, oil spill prevention, recycling, managing hazardous materials, and employee education.
• Track key compliance metrics and implement systems to improve performance.
• Facilitate improvements to and help maintain site EMS with other analysts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in EHS, Science, or Engineering-related fields or relevant experience.
• 3+ years in EHS and/or Manufacturing with EHS responsibility.
• Excellent communication skills to facilitate seamless integration across functional departments.
• Expert knowledge of air quality or other environmental regulations.
• Strong project and process management skills, with experience managing major projects and/or change initiatives.
• Ability to effectively navigate and research regulatory agency and industry-related web content.
• Detailed working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Nationally recognized Certifications (FE, PE, CHMM, PMP, CIH) preferred.
• OSHA 40 Hour Hazwoper, RCRA Training, or DOT HazMat Training preferred.
• Ability to travel up to 30%.
• Valid Driver’s License.

Pay

Base Salary: $110,000–115,000. Opportunity for an annual bonus.
