Senior Environmental Services Technician, Long Term Care (LTC)

About the role

Demonstrate knowledge of housekeeping processes, tools and techniques in a healthcare environment to provide a clean and sterile environment for patients/residents and facility staff. Responsibilities include cleaning patient/resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas to meet health standards. Assist in laundry areas as needed.

Works closely with the environmental services leadership team to support day-to-day operations, including ensuring staff have necessary equipment and supplies, responding to service requests, assisting with training, minor equipment maintenance, covering sick calls, and quality assurance inspections.

The role requires physical activities such as climbing, lifting (up to 40-50 lbs), balancing, walking, stooping, twisting, squatting, and handling materials. The position requires being on your feet for the majority of the shift and may involve exposure to noise from equipment. Work hours vary based on patient/resident needs and may include overtime, call, backup call, nights, days, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize assigned areas, including patient/resident rooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas, to meet health standards.
• Wear proper protective equipment following appropriate guidelines.
• Maintain well-stocked, clean, and tidy storage areas, equipment, and carts.
• Use pagers and other technology responsibly as required.
• Assist in laundry areas as needed.
• Support the environmental services leadership team with daily operations, including equipment/supplies management, service requests, training, and quality assurance.
• Perform physical tasks such as lifting (up to 40-50 lbs), pushing/pulling variable weights, and standing for extended periods.
• Attend required trainings to maintain knowledge and certifications (e.g., AORN terminal cleaning or pharmacy room standards if assigned).
• Ensure facilities are maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner in accordance with federal, state, local, and facility standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior cleaning or custodial experience, especially in a healthcare environment, is helpful.
• Knowledge of cleaning materials, equipment, methods, and chemicals is beneficial.
• Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to use computers and internal software applications as required.
• Yearly certifications may be required for specific assignments (e.g., AORN terminal cleaning or pharmacy room standards).

Pay

Salary range: $15.00 - $19.50 per hour.

Schedule

• Full-time position.
• Weekly hours: 37.00.
• Shift: 8-hour day shifts.
• Work hours may vary based on patient/resident needs, including overtime, call, backup call, nights, days, weekends, and holidays.
