SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST (SUPERVISORY)
About the role
The State of California seeks a Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory) to lead a team responsible for complex landfill projects. This role supervises environmental investigations and cleanup activities, ensuring compliance with legal mandates.
Responsibilities
- Provide direction and training to staff overseeing environmental investigations and cleanup activities.
- Ensure compliance with legal mandates and implement their requirements appropriately.
- Guide staff in reviewing site cleanup-related documents and conducting field work oversight.
- Maintain oversight of site cleanup-related documents and field work to ensure compliance with applicable standards and requirements.
- Offer technical consultation and support on complex technical issues, including investigations, data analysis, and remediation.
- Evaluate and implement appropriate sampling and mitigation techniques, using innovative technologies when necessary.
Requirements
This position requires strong leadership skills, experience with CERCLA environmental cleanup processes, excellent communication and problem-solving abilities, and experience with large and complex projects.
Qualifications
We seek candidates with a bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field, combined with at least 5 years of relevant experience in environmental science and management. Leadership experience and experience with soil gas and groundwater remediation projects are desirable.
Skills
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential. Experience with CERCLA environmental cleanup processes, large/complex projects, and soil gas and groundwater remediation projects are desirable.
Benefits
