SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST (SPECIALIST)
About the role
The State of California seeks a Senior Environmental Scientist - Lead Worker to join its team. This role is responsible for preparing and reviewing complex environmental documents, conducting technical studies, and analyzing environmental impacts.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review complex environmental documents and technical studies to ensure regulatory compliance with various environmental laws and regulations.
- Identify and analyze the environmental impacts of transportation systems, corridors, and projects on environmental resources.
- Formulate, calculate, and quantify measures to address and mitigate cultural resource impacts.
- Provide consultation recommendations to ensure compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), California Public Resources Code (PRC) 5024, CEQA, NEPA, and other relevant environmental resource laws and regulations.
Requirements
Minimum qualifications include possession of a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Biology, or a related field, and three years of progressively responsible experience in environmental science, including experience with environmental impact assessments, cultural resource management, and compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
Qualifications
Experience in preparing and reviewing environmental documents, conducting technical studies, and analyzing environmental impacts is preferred. Familiarity with California Public Resources Code (PRC) 5024, the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and other relevant environmental resource laws and regulations is essential.
Skills
Strong communication skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and knowledge of GIS software are beneficial.

Pay
The starting salary range for this position is $7,820.00 - $10,732.00 per month.
