About the role
The Senior Environmental Scientist will lead and deliver a variety of projects around the State and beyond. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and mentoring junior staff in field surveys and data collection, including habitat evaluations, wetland delineations, and wildlife surveys & relocations.
- Leading and supporting agency coordination, understanding jurisdiction and regulatory requirements for each agency.
- Preparing local, state and federal permit application packages.
- Preparing and reviewing technical reports summarizing findings, ensuring accuracy of environmental documentation.
- Collaborating across disciplines to ensure the environment is adequately considered into engineering and development projects.
- Supporting the preparation of draft environmental scopes, units, and staff hours for projects based on experience and/or existing guidelines.
- Monitoring project budgets and schedules to ensure profitability and timely delivery of our work products.
- Performing QA/QC reviews to ensure completeness, accuracy, and conformity to our high standards.
Responsibilities

Requirements for this position include:
- Bachelor's degree in physical or natural sciences or a related field (e.g., Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology).
- Master's degree or higher preferred.
- 10+ years of practical experience in the environmental industry (or 7+ years with a Master's degree).
- FWC-authorized gopher tortoise agent (or other wildlife permit) preferred.
- Experience writing proposals, scopes of work, and developing budgets preferred.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a team setting.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Preference for GIS mapping experience.
- Familiarity or established relationships with FDOT, regulatory agencies, and/or energy clients preferred.
- Desire to conduct field work, including wetland delineations and wildlife surveys.
- Able to communicate technical and complex information clearly.

Pay
Expected compensation range is between $120,000 - $145,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
Schedule
The Senior Environmental Scientist will work full-time in the Tampa, FL office.
