Responsibilities
- Create engineering designs of basic to high complexity for water and wastewater treatment facilities, water and sewer systems, pipelines, pump stations, remediation sites, and solid waste facilities based on high-level goals.
- Review draft designs and reports for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and sign off on completed designs.
- Ensure firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.
- Perform site reviews and studies to align designs with location specifications.
- Update design requirements as necessary.
- Perform water quality analyses and modeling.
- Contribute to the firm’s Technical Knowledge Management by developing white papers and technical design documentation.
- Submit technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals.
- Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to client RFPs.
- Review draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local, and federal regulations and best practices.
- Meet with current and potential clients to review their design needs.
- Attend conferences and symposia to improve the visibility of the firm’s products and services.
- Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff.
- Mentor junior staff and develop them for future growth within the discipline and firm.
- May supervise the work of junior engineers on project work.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license.
- 10 years of related experience.
- Expert knowledge of computer-assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
- Expert knowledge of engineering principles of design.
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Expert knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations.
Domestic and/or international travel may be required (10% or less). Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Pay
Pay Range: USD $110,240.00 – $192,899.00
CDM Smith is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This pay range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels for the geographic location assigned to the position. Salary is determined by several factors including role, function, relevant work experience, skills, required certifications, and education/training.
All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
