About the role
The Senior Environmental Engineer is responsible for a combination of client relationship development, business growth, and technical project delivery. This role involves overseeing environmental initiatives, ensuring strict adherence to regulatory requirements, and leading multidisciplinary teams in designing solutions for remediation systems, pollution control, waste management, and sustainability efforts.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement marketing and business development strategies for the WithersRavenel Environmental Practice Area.
- Oversee environmental initiatives and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Lead and manage environmental projects from initiation through completion by directing staff and field teams, overseeing technical field activities, ensuring compliance with SOPs, and delivering work within defined scope, schedule, and budget.
- Serve as the primary client and regulatory liaison, coordinate resources and workloads, guide project planning and execution, and maintain financial accountability through forecasting, invoicing, and proactive management of scope, risk, and performance.
- Collaborate with clients and governmental authorities to ensure all projects align with established environmental standards and objectives.
- Assist in strategic pursuit of potential clients per Practice Area initiatives and our core values.

- Provide guidance on environmental projects and engineered designs.
- Collaborate with clients and governmental authorities to ensure all projects align with established environmental standards and objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in North Carolina.
- 15+ years’ experience working in the environmental field and established a client base or ability to identify and secure new clientele.
- Demonstrated experience in the completion of site assessments, remediation, environmental audits, data interpretation, and report writing.
- DEQ contract experience or significant private client experience a plus.
- NC experience preferred.
- Valid Driver's License with the ability to pass an MVR check.
- Preferred: NC Licensed Well Driller Certification, NC Registered Site Manager.
