Senior Environmental Compliance Project Manager

About the role

We are seeking a senior-level professional to lead environmental compliance services supporting complex infrastructure and renewable energy projects. This role will serve as a key partner to clients and project teams by guiding compliance strategy, managing environmental commitments, and ensuring successful implementation of permit conditions throughout the project lifecycle.

You will lead compliance efforts for projects including utility-scale solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), transmission and linear infrastructure, and other renewable energy developments, coordinating closely with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and regulatory agencies. This position combines project management, client engagement, and technical leadership to help projects move forward efficiently while maintaining regulatory compliance and environmental stewardship.

This position is primarily office-based with opportunities for occasional field work and travel.

• Work closely with other Dudek Project Managers to promote business interests in alignment with the company’s mission, vision, and values.
• Lead the preparation, organization, and production of environmental compliance management plans, permit applications, and other environmental documents.
• Track environmental commitments to support implementation of permit conditions on various projects.
• Coordinate with clients, field personnel, and environmental resource specialists to ensure permit conditions are implemented during construction.
• Prepare bid documents and proposals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or a related field.
• Minimum of 12 years of combined experience leading teams in complex project due-diligence, large infrastructure project management, preparing permitting and environmental documents, managing and supervising staff, and overseeing technical quality.
• Strong technical writing and research skills, as well as solid written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly organized with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in MS Office, particularly Word and Excel.
• Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
• Self-motivated with an interest in learning and growing as part of a project team.
• Valid driver’s license and active personal automobile liability insurance by the first day of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in environmental science, planning, or a related field.
• Experience working within an environmental consulting firm or AEC consulting environment.
• Familiarity with the California energy market or utility client programs.
• Experience supporting large, multi-disciplinary project teams across multiple offices or regions.
• Demonstrated involvement in internal initiatives such as process improvement, mentoring programs, or practice development.
• Existing client relationships within the renewable energy or infrastructure sectors.

Pay

$110,000–$150,000 annually. Final agreed-upon compensation will be based on experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location.

Working Conditions

• Operates in a hybrid (remote/office-based) environment using standard office equipment.
• Occasional project site visits may involve outdoor conditions, including excessive noise, uneven walking surfaces, extreme weather, and moving vehicles/equipment.

• Working on a computer, sitting, or standing for long periods in an office or remote setting.
• Attending in-person or virtual meetings and speaking on the phone with peers and clients.
• Specific vision abilities required, including close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
