Organization: The United States Space Force (USSF) is a military service that organizes, trains, and equips military members and civilians to protect U.S. and allied interests in space and provide space capabilities to the joint force. USSF responsibilities include developing Guardians, acquiring military space systems, maturing the military doctrine for space power, and organizing space forces to present to our Combatant Commands (CCMDs). The strategic importance of space can’t be overstated. Political and humanitarian interests as well as commercial concerns vital to the world economy all rely on space-based systems. Launched in 2019 as the nation’s sixth and newest military branch, the USSF was created to protect the interests and assets of America and its allies in this heavily contested realm. The Department of Defense relies on satellites and advanced space-based technology for secure communications, navigation, real-time reconnaissance, precision targeting on the battlefield, early warning of potential missile launches, and even weather forecasting. Guardians and civilians of the USSF are challenged every day to reach new heights in protecting and amplifying these space-based capabilities and defending our way of life by maintaining our edge in space. The United States Space Force (USSF) at Vandenberg SFB, CA is searching for a Senior Enterprise Software Architect to support SLD 30 (NH-2210-03, GS-12/13 Equivalent). Description: Do you want to be a part of the ramp up to upward of 500 Launches per year and leading software integration activities at the best spaceport in the world? Then the role of Senior Enterprise Software Architect is the role you've been looking for. The Space Launch Delta 30 Digital Transformation Office is leading the development of a single spaceport data architecture and actively modernizing and integrating new automation into the fabric of the spaceport. As the Senior Enterprise Software Architect, you will be at the helm of identifying operational gaps across warfighting and business operations to engineer and deliver software solutions. You will be both resources with budget and personnel to accomplish these goals and on a day-to-day basis you will engage with SLD leadership, technical peers, and academic institutions to improve the state of software within VSFB. On a week-to-week basis you're routinely work with the new 4th Space Launch Squadron, 630th Cyberspace Squadron, 30th Communication Directorate, the Space Force S6 and SSC S6 along with local senior leadership. Previous incumbents have been promoted rather quickly for increased responsibilities and have won field command awards. You will also be empowered to derive new capabilities or requirements that are not common to the Vandenberg SFB system integrators and will be afforded opportunities to survey and develop new operations center capabilities. Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate for the Space Launch Delta 30 Senior Enterprise Software Architect will have in depth knowledge and understanding of the Department of War software ecosystem and how to bring software solutions that benefit the Warfighers, Operations and Business managers across Vandenberg SFB. It is preferred to have a mix of certifications (Sec+, CompTiA, RMF) along with recent education on software development , system engineering, or experience deploying hardware and software to a vast array of users. Experience within existing DAF Software Factories, major defense data platforms, or DoW programs like the Joint Warfighter Cloud Contract (JWCC), PlatformOne, or a similarly complex ecosystem in the federal government is also a plus. Working with many stakeholders across the innovation enterprise and locally at Vandenberg will occur so being able to "get to a yes" or negotiate ammenable terms for solutions is a must have. The candidate will also work with two peer government civilians, 4-6 STEM Engineers, and 3 Military ProjectArc software develpoers. The candidate will also lead the adoption of small business innovative resarch projects that are inherently software driven an facilitate their technology packages to attain authorizations. The previous incumbent led the acceptance of AskSage and Ark.AI. Requirements: 1. Must be a U.S Citizen. 2. PCS and Incentives funding is not available. 3. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. 4. Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise. 5. May be required travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft. 6. May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis. 7. Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed "Unscheduled Telework" 8. Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 15 days per year. 9. Highly desired bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Analytics, Software Engineering, Information Systems Management, or equivalent experience. Advanced degree preferred.
