About the role

Welty Energy is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our Transmission and Substation Project Management team. This role focuses on planning, organizing, and coordinating the completion of substation and transmission line projects ranging from 69kV to 765kV. You will also mentor and train junior team members to ensure team success. While the role is remote, it requires residence in Eastern Pennsylvania with travel to client sites as needed (including New Jersey).

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with all applicable stakeholders to establish and maintain communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with the client regarding project(s).
  • Conduct technical reviews of specifications, drawings, contracts, addenda, and other construction documents to ensure constructability with client standards and specifications.
  • Conduct and direct project planning and status meetings to ensure adherence to schedule and financial targets.
  • Provide schedule updates on engineering, construction, and budget status to internal and external management teams.
  • Oversee and coordinate construction package reviews, pre-award meetings, field visits, and pre-award project site walk-downs.
  • Act as the single point of contact for Construction on submittals, reviews, and coordination of required project information.
  • Ensure necessary outages are identified, submitted, and communicated to avoid schedule interruptions.
  • Ensure required permits are obtained and approvals secured from applicable parties.
  • Assist Portfolio Manager(s) with coordination, preparation, and reporting of significant construction project activities.
  • Perform regular site safety inspections at project locations.
  • Focus on stakeholder interaction and client expectations during project planning and execution.
  • Follow project management tenets to estimate, monitor, and control approved funding, resources, schedules, and activities.
  • Adhere to client methods, processes, and policies while planning and executing projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or equivalent years of experience in electric utility project management.
  • Minimum of 10–15 years of experience in project management, planning, or similar roles within the Electric Utility sector, specializing in high voltage (substation and transmission).
  • Electric utility project management experience preferred.
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective leadership and organizational skills.

Travel

15–20% travel required to Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
