About the role
The Senior Engineering Manager, Database will lead a team responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust database solutions that drive business outcomes. This role requires a deep understanding of database technologies and a proven track record of managing high-performing teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of database engineers and architects to design, implement, and maintain scalable and efficient database systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices for database management.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and partners to ensure optimal performance and support.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to team members to foster growth and development.
- Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in database management and continuously improve processes and methodologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- At least 10 years of experience in database engineering and management, including experience leading teams.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and deliver results within deadlines.
- Experience with database technologies such as SQL, NoSQL, and cloud-based databases.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
Qualifications
- Experience with database management systems (DBMS) such as Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
- Knowledge of database design principles and normalization techniques.
- Experience with database performance tuning and optimization.
- Experience with database security and compliance practices.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
