About the role

The Senior Engineering Manager, Database will lead a team responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust database solutions that drive business outcomes. This role requires a deep understanding of database technologies and a proven track record of managing high-performing teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of database engineers and architects to design, implement, and maintain scalable and efficient database systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices for database management.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and partners to ensure optimal performance and support.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to team members to foster growth and development.
  • Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in database management and continuously improve processes and methodologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in database engineering and management, including experience leading teams.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and deliver results within deadlines.
  • Experience with database technologies such as SQL, NoSQL, and cloud-based databases.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.

Qualifications

  • Experience with database management systems (DBMS) such as Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
  • Knowledge of database design principles and normalization techniques.
  • Experience with database performance tuning and optimization.
  • Experience with database security and compliance practices.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with database automation tools and scripting languages.
