Senior Engineering Designer

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and production of civil site development plans from concept through construction.
  • Prepare detailed grading, drainage, stormwater management, utility, roadway, and erosion control plans.
  • Develop engineering calculations, reports, exhibits, and technical documentation.
  • Cook up with project managers, engineers, surveyors, landscape architects, and external consultants.
  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to create and manage design models, plan sets, and construction documents.
  • Support permitting and entitlement efforts, including agency coordination and plan review responses.
  • Aid with project scheduling, resource planning, and quality control reviews.
  • Perform technical reviews to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Mentor junior designers and CAD staff while promoting design best practices.
  • Participate in client meetings, project discussions, and internal design reviews.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • 8+ years of civil/site design experience within a consulting engineering environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Strong understanding of site grading, stormwater management, drainage design, utility layouts, and erosion control.
  • Experience preparing construction documents for land development projects.
  • Working knowledge of Georgia development regulations and permitting requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Experience leading design teams on complex land development projects.
  • Familiarity with Hydraflow, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, PondPack, WaterCAD, or similar design software.
  • Experience with commercial, industrial, multifamily, mixed-use, and residential developments.
  • Understanding of municipal review and permitting processes throughout Georgia.
