Senior Engineer System Software, SDN Operations

For our client, a leader in the Telecommunications & Hardware space, we are seeking a Senior Engineer to join their team. This role will lead operational priorities focused on execution quality, efficiency, safety, and measurable performance outcomes. You will collaborate with field leadership, support functions, and cross-functional stakeholders to improve accountability, service delivery, and operational consistency. The position offers the opportunity to influence operational scale, customer outcomes, and organizational performance within a Telecommunications & Hardware environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Responsibilities

• Design and develop next-generation multi-tenant cloud SDN control and data plane software
• Build Infrastructure-as-a-Service virtual network orchestration with gRPC and REST
• Contribute to OVN-Kubernetes and related open-source projects
• Develop network observability tools for monitoring and performance analysis
• Operate and support OVS-OVN based SDN solutions in large-scale environments
• Ensure end-to-end observability of the SDN stack
• Enhance and maintain CI/CD pipelines across diverse networking technologies

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
• 8+ years of proven software development experience in large-scale distributed environments
• Expert-level knowledge of OVN, OVS, OpenFlow, and modern network protocols
• Strong programming skills in C and Go, with advanced scripting in Bash and Python
• Deep knowledge of Kubernetes and experience deploying and supporting CNIs (OVN-Kubernetes)
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code using tools like Ansible and Terraform
• Experience with designing complex CI/CD pipelines

Pay

$184,000 – $287,500 annually
