Senior Engineer, System Planning (Hybrid Schedule)

Job Summary

Lead, conduct and present scenario and probabilistic based planning studies under existing and forecast system conditions; Contribute sound engineering input to develop robust, reliable, low-cost solutions; Exchange results and conduct critical review of data and assumptions from regional and industry stakeholders; Interface with ISO-New England, area transmission owners, and the company's departments to understand and mitigate electric system needs, challenges, and enable growth; Coordinate and oversee studies performed by vendors and consultants, analyzing assumptions and review conclusions to integrate into company initiatives; Prepare engineering output and summarize in reports, spreadsheets, and presentations to colleagues, management, industry groups and regional stakeholders; Collaborate with cross-functional groups to develop long-range planning standards and criteria for integrating and enabling new technologies; Collaborate with ISO-NE, Academia and DOE National Labs on power system planning and operation technology strategy, research, and development; and Work emergency restoration assignments as needed.

Requirements

  • Experience with transmission planning, software simulations, IBR modeling, and transient analysis;
  • Experience applying electrical theory to planning an electric power supply system;
  • Experience using power system modeling and simulation software for steady state power flow, voltage, short circuit, stability, and electromagnetic transients;
  • Experience with HVDC and inverter-based resource parameters and modeling, including simulation experience in weak grid systems;
  • Experience with PSSE and PSCAD;
  • Experience with Python and VBA;
  • Experience with Powertech (TSAT, VSAT), ASPEN Oneliner, EMTP (ATP), TARA, and PI Processbook;
  • Experience applying NERC TPL, NPCC, and ISO-NE planning procedures.

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineer or a related field;
  • At least five years of experience as a Planning Engineer, Research Assistant, or related occupation.

Benefits

  • Hybrid option to work from home may be available: 3 days in office/2 days from home.

Pay

$156,936 - $165,000/year.
