The Role

The Senior Engineer, Stay Experiences & Technical Operations is responsible for the technical design, validation, and operational readiness of Digital Guest Experience solutions across global hotel environments. This role ensures that solutions such as Digital Check-in, Digital Key, Messaging, and In-Room technologies are feasible, scalable, and stable across a highly variable hotel infrastructure landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Readiness & Solution Validation: Assess and validate the technical readiness, feasibility, and scalability of Digital Guest Experience solutions across diverse hotel environments.
  • Solution Design & Documentation: Develop and maintain technical documentation, integration flows, configuration standards, and system dependency mappings for Stay solutions.
  • Production Support & Incident Management: Serve as an escalation point for complex production issues, leading root cause analysis and driving resolution of systemic technical defects.
  • Vendor & Integration Engineering: Partner with strategic vendors and internal engineering teams to evaluate integrations, support deployments, and ensure technical performance standards are met.
  • Deployment & Operational Enablement: Support pilots, deployments, and operational readiness activities by identifying technical risks, validating environments, and resolving deployment blockers.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with Product, Architecture, Security, and Regional teams to align Stay solutions with enterprise standards, operational realities, and long-term scalability goals.
  • IHG Lab & Showcase Space Ownership: Set up and manage technical solution operations of IHG’s stay lab and showcase spaces

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a relevant field of work or an equivalent combination of education and work related experience.
  • Typically a minimum of 7+ years of progressive work related experience with demonstrated proficiency in multiple disciplines, technologies, or processes related to the position.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise system integrations, including APIs, middleware, and third-party vendor ecosystems. Familiarity with hotel technology environments, including PMS platforms, door lock systems, network infrastructure, and guest-facing applications.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and technical knowledge of infrastructure fundamentals (networking, TCP/IP, security protocols, cloud environments).
  • Understanding of project management lifecycle from conception through implementation. Relevant proficiency and technical knowledge of Operating Systems/Applications infrastructure technologies.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with application and network monitoring / visualization tools and system monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting tools. Ability to perform root cause analysis across multiple systems and vendors.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in analytical, problem solving and root cause analysis skills with ability to correlate cross-platform technologies.
  • Experience with the software development life cycle from conception through implementation. Strong understanding of enterprise system integrations, including APIs, middleware, and third-party vendor ecosystems.
  • Experience with hotel-specific technologies (PMS, Digital Key, Wi-Fi, or in-room systems)
  • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • API integration and middleware platforms
  • Network infrastructure (routing, switching, firewalls)
  • Identity, authentication, and security frameworks
  • Vendor platform integrations (e.g., guest experience platforms, messaging systems)
  • Automation and scripting (DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines)

Pay

The salary range for this role is $95,000.00 to $110,000.00. This role is also eligible for bonus pay (as applicable).

Schedule

Our hybrid work structure is an expectation of three (3) days a week in office. This expectation may be adjusted to evolve with the changing needs of the business.
