Job Scope/Supervision

The senior engineer in Service Engineering & Automation team is a subject matter expert for all cloud services and has in-depth understanding of all components that form a cloud solution and is proficient in everything it takes for a customer to see the desired outcome on his system. That includes the whole lifecycle - from installation and initial configuration based on pre-approved design to capacity allocation and configuration of systems.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end deployment and management of public cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure.
  • Establish and enforce enterprise-grade standards for public cloud infrastructure automation.
  • Lead large-scale, zero-downtime maintenance initiatives.
  • Identify recurring operational bottlenecks, automate remediation and build self-healing infrastructure mechanisms.
  • Tune monitoring requirements to reduce alert fatigue, ensuring the operations team only acts on actionable, high-signal data.
  • Deploy, maintain and manage hybrid cloud solutions or dedicated on-prem solutions in any of the 50+ GTT PoPs around the globe.
  • Provide advanced engineering support and complex troubleshooting for Customer solutions and Shared GTT platforms.
  • Work in cooperation with other engineering teams deploying and developing new customer and GTT platforms.
  • Proactive escalation, follow-through and liaison with appropriate departments to resolve technical issues which may impact delivery timescales or quality.
  • Create contingency plans to minimize such risks.
  • Production of quality documentation to reflect changes to solutions.
  • Provide technical governance and ensure adherence to best practices in operations.
  • Present proposed solutions, technical designs, and service enhancements to internal teams and management.
  • Lead root cause analysis efforts for major incidents, identifying systemic issues and implementing preventative actions.
  • Collaborate with the Problem Management team to ensure known errors are well-documented and corrective actions are tracked.
  • Mentor and actively develop engineering talent.
  • Establish and govern the standards for technical documentation.
  • Present and defend strategic technical proposals, architectural changes, and service enhancement initiatives.

Required Experience/Qualifications

  • At least 6 years of proven experience deploying, configuring and managing virtual and/or cloud infrastructures.
  • Proven track record of architecting, managing, and scaling multi-cloud or hybrid environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale data center to public cloud migrations.
  • Expert-level capability in managing highly available, multi-region architectures with complex disaster recovery and active-active failover mechanisms.
  • Active AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate (SAA-C03) certification.
  • Excellent awareness of Hosting Solution components (Firewalls, Server Hardware etc.).
  • Technical understanding of other technologies (eg. IP, MPLS, VoIP).
  • Experienced with ITIL framework.
  • General knowledge of telecom and Hosting industry and standards.
  • Excellent English language skills a must.

Desirable Experience/Qualifications

  • Advanced public cloud certifications, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional (SAP-C02), Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305), or Google Cloud Certified - Professional Cloud Architect (PCA) are a significant advantage.
  • RedHat, Microsoft, NetApp or other related certification is a plus.
  • Excellent awareness of Microsoft and Linux technologies and integration.
  • Backup platforms awareness is a plus.

Hours/Travel/Shift

Standard business hours, rotational on-call shifts to ensure 24/7 support coverage. This role does not require travel.
