Senior Engineer, Reliability Engineering

Location: Lenexa, KS (occasional national and international travel — 1–2 times per year — to support product field reliability activities and root cause identification).

This role focuses on developing, coordinating, and conducting technical reliability studies and evaluating engineering design concepts and design of experiments (DOE) constructs.

Responsibilities

• Recommend design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product reliability.
• Compile and analyze performance reports, process control statistics, and relevant variables potentially affecting product and process.
• Develop mathematical models to identify units, batches, or processes posing excessive failure risks.
• Determine units and/or batches requiring environmental testing.

Requirements

• Must possess at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field and at least 5 years of progressive experience as a Reliability Engineer, Design Engineer, Test Engineer, Product Engineer, or related role within aerospace or other highly regulated hardware industries.
• Alternatively, at least a master’s degree or its equivalent in the same fields and at least 3 years of relevant experience.
• At least 3 years of experience leading Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) using structured problem-solving methods (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, Fault Tree).
• At least 3 years of experience analyzing field, factory, and warranty data to drive reliability improvements.
• At least 3 years of experience developing or automating reliability calculation tools, dashboards, or data-driven analytics to support predictions, trade studies, and decision-making.
• At least 3 years of experience applying airworthiness and certification requirements applicable to aircraft interior or electro-mechanical systems.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Person, or authorized to work in the U.S. without company immigration sponsorship now or in the future.
• The company will not seek an export authorization for this role.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $114,358.00 to $165,200.00 USD per year. The range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Schedule

This is an onsite role. Employees in onsite roles, including all production and maintenance employees, are essential to the development of our products.
