Senior Engineer, P.E. (Transportation)

As a Senior Engineer, P.E., you'll lead transportation and traffic engineering initiatives that improve safety, mobility, and connectivity throughout the City. From overseeing roadway and intersection improvement projects to reviewing development proposals and managing capital improvement programs, you'll play a key role in creating transportation solutions that serve residents, businesses, and visitors alike. Responsibilities

• Manage assigned land development or capital improvement projects.
• Perform the most complex professional engineering work requiring a substantial level of professional training and experience.
• Supervise, assign, monitor, and oversee the work of assigned professional, technical, and administrative support staff.
• Lead transportation and traffic engineering initiatives to improve safety, mobility, and connectivity.
• Oversee roadway and intersection improvement projects.
• Review development proposals and manage capital improvement programs.
• Collaborate with developers, consultants, and public agencies.
• Mentor engineering staff and solve complex transportation challenges.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in civil, electrical, mechanical, or structural engineering or a related engineering discipline, OR equivalent related work experience.
• At least six (6) years of progressively responsible civil, electrical, mechanical, or structural engineering experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Current, valid certification as a Professional Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, or Structural Engineer with the California State Licensing Board.
• A valid California driver’s license and the ability to maintain insurability under the City’s vehicle insurance policy.

Previous municipality experience related to transportation is desirable.

About the Transportation Division

The Transportation Engineering Division assesses neighborhood and regional traffic concerns and implements corrective measures to enhance vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian safety. The staff works closely with the Western Riverside Council of Governments (WRCOG), the Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC), the California Department of Transportation (CALTRANS), and adjoining agencies to ensure consistency and uniformity with regional transportation programs. The division operates and maintains 201 traffic signals and 418 centerline miles of roadway signing and striping.
