About the role
Aecon is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support modifications for mechanical systems at nuclear power plants. This role involves developing design packages, performing calculations, preparing drawings, and interfacing with plant stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Develop design modification packages for mechanical systems at a nuclear power plant.
- Perform engineering calculations such as hydraulic analysis, equipment sizing, HVAC sizing, heat load analysis, and pressure loss calculations.
- Develop mechanical design and procurement specifications.
- Prepare engineering drawings such as Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID), General Arrangement (GA), Equipment Plan, Piping Orthographic and Isometric drawings.
- Develop material and workhour estimates as well as engineering and design schedules.
- Exercise sound engineering judgment in assessing problem situations or complex issues, review completed work to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes and design criteria.
- Interface with plant stakeholders to determine project scope/requirements, support construction/implementation and start up activities as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university.
- Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience (4 years nuclear).
- The ability to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear power plant.
Qualifications
- NANTeL Certified in the Nuclear Standard Design Process (IP-ENG-01)
- Professional Engineering (PE) license in US
- Experience with fluid flow software (AFT FATHOM, or Equivalent)
- Experience with Fire Protection and Detection Systems
Skills
- Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay
Pay Range: $100,000 - $150,000 per year
