Senior Engineer II-Applications (EMC)

Microchip Technology Inc. has a Senior Engineer II-Applications (EMC) opening based in Austin, Texas. The successful candidate will conduct EMC tests for radiated and conducted emissions and immunity according to various international standards. Responsibilities
- Conduct EMC measurements for radiated and conducted tests according to a test plan
- Consult internal customers on EMC test plans, test setups, and measurement techniques
- Work closely with internal customers to bring up equipment to be tested in our lab and ensure it can be monitored throughout the tests
- Identify EMC-related issues and recommend practical solutions
- Assist with the development and improvement of EMC test procedures, tools, and processes to support consistent and reliable results
- Stay current on relevant EMC standards, industry practices, and emerging technologies to help guide application support and product development
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably with a focus in communications engineering, along with 7.5+ years of relevant industry experience
- Experience in EMC testing and/or RF testing
- Familiarity with automotive EMC standards and common EMC test setups on component and IC level
- Proficiency with advanced RF measurement techniques and the respective laboratory test & measurement devices
- Eager to learn new skills and technologies, with a growth mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex technical challenges and develop practical solutions
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, including creating easy-to-understand technical documentation
- Comfortable communicating and collaborating with team members from diverse language backgrounds
- Collaborative team player who works well across functions, teams, and geographic locations
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with control software for automated EMC testing
- Experience with script language programming, e.g., Python
