Senior Engineer, HP NonStop Development (REMOTE option)

This position is eligible for remote work anywhere within the United States. Candidates within commutable distance to corporate offices in Saint Petersburg, FL, Denver, CO, Memphis, TN, or Southfield, MI will follow a hybrid work schedule (typically 3 days per week in the office). This role is not eligible for work visa sponsorship.

About the Role

As part of the Back Office development team, this Senior HP NonStop Engineer will analyze business requirements, problems, and deliver quality technical solutions. The team is responsible for application development, modification, maintenance, and support for the IT Back Office, including highly critical applications involving Corporate Actions, Trade Clearance, and Securities Transfer.

Responsibilities

  • Develop existing applications and contribute to new applications by analyzing and identifying areas for modification and improvement.
  • Develop new routine applications to meet customer requirements.
  • Leverage AI platforms for documentation, test automation, and support for user IT and business stakeholders.
  • Monitor batch jobs, diagnose, and correct performance issues.
  • Monitor, identify, and correct software defects; maintain fully functioning application software in a dynamic environment.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders and demonstrate teamwork.
  • May lead assigned projects, including assigning tasks, coordinating efforts, and monitoring performance.
  • Recommend new technologies and methodologies to management to meet business needs and resolve problems.
  • Identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities; compare data from different sources to draw conclusions.
  • Evaluate information on factors such as reporting formats, costs, and security needs to determine hardware configuration.
  • Participate in software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation.
  • Provide technical advice and assist in solving programming problems.
  • Write and/or review system specifications, including output requirements and flow charts.
  • Create and maintain technical and/or user documentation to a high standard; back up files for instant recovery.
  • Ensure proper analysis of problems and programming approaches to prevent rework and schedule slippage.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively through various media to engage audiences.
  • Demonstrate technical and professional skills; stay current with developments and trends in areas of expertise.
  • Develop and use collaborative relationships to facilitate work goals.
  • Integrate AI-based tools into daily workflows to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • More than five (5) years of relevant development or engineering experience.
  • Experience in HP NonStop COBOL85, HPNS SQL/MX, and SQL/MP.
  • Experience in Pathway servers and configuration.
  • Experience working on HP NonStop/Tandem Guardian OS application development.
  • Full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience.
  • Experience working with batch job processing and handling large data volumes.
  • Experience with Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid software development methodologies.
  • Experience with brokerage and clearing business/industry is a plus.
  • Experience with Middle Office and Back Office domains is a strong plus.
  • Experience with messaging platforms (e.g., MQ) is a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Experience working in remote and globally distributed business environments using collaboration tools (e.g., email, phone, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Azure-DevOps).
  • May occasionally work a non-standard shift, including nights and/or weekends, and have on-call responsibilities (once every 5-6 weeks).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer and Information Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent (High School diploma required).
  • 3 to 6 years of general work experience.

Pay

Salary range: $75,000.00 – $125,000.00.

Schedule

  • Hybrid work schedule for candidates within commutable distance to corporate offices.
  • Travel: less than 25%.
