Senior Engineer, Gas Planning and Design Engineering
About the role
National Grid is hiring an Senior Engineer for their NY Gas Planning and Design Engineering department in Staten Island, NY. (100% full onsite position)
Responsibilities
- Makes sure National Grid's State and Federal mandated corrosion control programs are completed within regulated timeframes and budget.
- Promotes and follows testing and safety procedures set forth by National Grid, New York State, and the US DOT.
- Develops and maintains corrosion control engineering programs for gas transmission, distribution, production and storage facilities, to achieve and sustain compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Maintains safety as the highest priority by promoting safety goals and procedures, which includes regular safety and observation audits completed in the field.
- Understands and promotes cost savings measures to ensure cost center stays within specified budget.
- Be proficient and teach direct reports and others on new corrosion electronic database system (Pipeline Compliance System) as well as other National Grid software systems such as Gas GIS, Fortis, CIS.
- Develops and maintains corrosion control engineering programs for gas transmission, distribution, production and storage facilities, to achieve and sustain compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Supports all of these functions and processes enterprise wide as well as other activities within Gas System Engineering and the gas organization.
- Works with our corrosion testers, technicians, operations and other organizations.
- Prepares and/or assists in the preparation of Work Orders.
- Uses Pipeline Compliance System database for collection and storage of testing data.
Requirements
- BS degree in engineering from an ABET accredited school.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- 5+ years’ engineering experience required.
- EIT or PE preferred.
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal management direction for all projects and groups of projects.
- Knowledge of Federal DOT and National Grid corrosion control testing procedures, as well as demonstrated proficiency with National Grid computer systems.
Qualifications
- Email and other communication for upper level management will be needed on a regular basis.
- Develops and maintains corrosion control engineering programs for gas transmission, distribution, production and storage facilities, to achieve and sustain compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Applies technical knowledge and experience along with industry codes, standards, and regulations is required.
- Supports all of these functions and processes enterprise wide as well as other activities within Gas System Engineering and the gas organization.
- The position will require some travel as needed, field support and reports to the Corrosion Manager.
- Work will include Development of engineering plans, specifications and designs for new cathodic protection systems.
- Development of specifications and procedures for the performance and analysis of field tests on cathodic protection systems and data interpretation will be required.
- Prepares and/or assists in the preparation of Work Orders.
- Working with our corrosion testers, technicians, operations and other organizations is required.
- Pipeline Compliance System database is utilized for collection and storage of testing data.
Benefits
Downstate NY Salary: $136,000 - $159,000 a year
