About the role
We are seeking a subject matter expert for Transmission and Substation large pieces of equipment. The ideal candidate should have knowledge of industry standards such as IEEE and ANSI as it pertains to T&S assets. The role involves providing expert opinion to field personnel and management, creating and updating T&S equipment standards, and providing technical training to field personnel.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate, develop, implement and lead projects that have significant financial and operational impact
- Provide consultation and recommendations to the Company within and to other business units and/or customers
- Participate in technical and industry societies and committees to enhance knowledge of new technologies or issues in areas of company interest
- Apply advanced engineering principles to identify and resolve complex issues
- Train and mentor others in specialized areas
- Act as an expert witness or provide expert opinions as required
- Implement action plans to improve performance and cost effectiveness
- Provide detailed technical training, mentorship, peer review, and/or guidance to others
- Participate in creating, updating, and applying internal/industry standards and technology in a specialized area of expertise
- Support project decisions having a significant impact on the company
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Licensed Professional Engineer (2)
- Thorough knowledge and experience in unique areas of engineering expertise
- Minimum of seven (7) years of professional engineering experience
- Master's degree in Engineering reduces the OJT experience requirement by one (1) year
Qualifications
- Knowledge of engineering designs, principles and practices
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems
- Knowledge and ability to apply problem solving approaches and engineering theory
- Detailed knowledge of applicable standards, codes methods, and practices unique to areas of expertise
- Strong teamwork, interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with all management levels
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to analyze industry wide trends and implement enhancements
Skills
- Ability to read and review electric schematics
- Ability to work with vendors on T&S equipment
- Ability to evaluate equipment and work with supply and others to determine and approve vendors for T&S equipment
- Ability to develop and update internal/industry standards and technology in a specialized area of expertise

- Annual salary ranging from $103,200.00/Yr. to $141,900.00/Yr.
