Responsibilities

  • Apply scientific knowledge, engineering principles, mathematics, and ingenuity to complete assignments related to a specific technical field or discipline in the AEC industry with little or no supervision.
  • Responsible for compliance with applicable codes, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Independently plan and conduct small- to medium-size assigned projects within engineering specialty, including conventional types of plans, investigations, and equipment.
  • Manage multiple, often concurrent, projects and meet deadlines while achieving the project's financial targets in support of business objectives.
  • Maintain project controls and reporting for cost, scope, and schedule; develop execution strategy including procurement.
  • Produce unique and cost-effective results; establish alternate use possibilities and incorporate flexibility.
  • Balance system costs with benefits provided; oversee design work of internal and external consultants.
  • Create/modify designs for intermediate problems; integrate financial with technical data.
  • Analyze complex interdisciplinary problems, identify their impact, establish probabilities, and draw conclusions reflecting broad business needs.
  • Represent engineering on corporate task forces; identify full range of customer/client needs and propose solutions to address them.
  • Monitor the improvement of other engineers and may participate in the evaluation of assigned staff/project team members and in the identification of development needs.
  • May supervise other engineers or technicians.
  • Use established project management tools and techniques (FEP, Cash Flow Projections, Scope/Schedule Control, etc.) to manage small projects.
  • Contribute to the development of project management best practices.
  • Direct and manage project execution by performing the work defined in the project plan to achieve project objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferred), science, or closely related discipline is desired, or equivalent technical experience plus demonstrated competence, with a desired 5+ years of significant engineering and/or operational experience.
  • A post-graduate education/degree is desired and may contribute towards the desired years of experience.
  • Demonstrated competency within a discipline; possesses strong technical knowledge and application of concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Works on problems of complex scope where analysis of situations or data involves multiple competing factors.
  • Demonstrates judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Interacts and collaborates well with diverse groups of architects and engineers, maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external team members in a fast-paced goal-driven environment.
  • Listens to and understands others' points of view and articulates tactfully and respectfully one's own perspective orally, in writing, and in presentations.
  • Possesses interpersonal skills to negotiate and reconcile differences.
  • Technical background in laboratory life science (preferred), health care, medical devices, pharmaceutical, biologics, or similar industries.
  • Demonstrated competency with financial systems and in fiscal control.

Pay

The compensation range described is the range of possible base pay that AbbVie believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of posting, based on the job grade. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and may vary. This range may be modified in the future.
