Senior Engineer

About the role

Terracon is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join and grow our Engineering Team. This position specializes in the design, investigation, and rehabilitation of building structures and building enclosures. We provide significant responsibilities, including client development and ensuring successful project delivery, with a focus on design and consulting. You will collaborate with architects, owners, and engineers across multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering and consulting services for structural design of new and existing buildings, including failure investigations, condition assessments, analytical studies, and rehabilitation of historic structures.
• Design specialty structures and prepare structural shop drawings.
• Collaborate with clients such as architects, civil/mechanical/electrical engineers, private/public owners, government entities, educational institutions, contractors, and subcontractors.
• Oversee the design and preparation of construction documents for various projects.
• Develop and prepare proposals for professional services, including scope, fees, and project schedules.
• Prepare professional reports with logical technical presentations and recommendations.
• Lead multi-discipline teams, including junior to senior staff, and coordinate resources to complete projects on time and within budget.
• Supervise and mentor junior professionals to cross-train them on structural services.
• Participate in technical/professional associations and business development efforts to expand client relationships.

Requirements

• 9+ years of experience in structural engineering, review, and assessments.
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working safely in challenging environments, such as crawlspaces, suspended scaffolding, vertical heights, and building facades/roofs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including summarizing observations and work requirements in text and drawings.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Proficiency with industry analytical and drafting tools, particularly Revit.
