Will provide engineering services and technical support, including planning, design, inspection, construction management, and contract administration, for projects involving the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission treatment plant and remote pump stations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all phases of construction projects, including design and implementation of project plans.
- Communicate directly with contractors and designers concerning project costs, staffing, and scheduling.
- Prepare project status reports and monitor construction to ensure adherence to contract specifications.
- Undertake system PLC/HMI programming and commissioning for control systems utilizing Rockwell, Allen Bradley, and Wonderware platforms.
- Apply engineering principles to analyze, interpret, and solve engineering problems.
- Develop sound plans, recommendations, and engineering reports.
- Direct engineers, operations and maintenance personnel, consultants, and contractors to complete projects.
Requirements
- Minimum of fifteen (15) years of related experience as an Instrumentation and Control Engineer, including acting as lead engineer for industrial, commercial, or public construction projects.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Systems and Control Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Proven work experience managing large construction projects, preferably in a wastewater treatment facility.
- Solid working knowledge of SCADA, field automation, measurements, instrumentation, field communications, and the electrical trade.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position.
- Good judgment and decision-making ability based on fundamental and practical knowledge of instrumentation & control engineering.
- Professional engineering license (P.E.) issued by the New Jersey State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors or a transferable P.E. from another state is preferred.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation, including sitting, standing, walking, stooping, climbing (including ladders), kneeling, lifting up to 25 lbs., carrying, reaching, pushing, pulling, using a keyboard and tools, and having hearing and visual acuity.
- Must qualify for and possess the ability to perform entry into confined spaces while wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE) such as canister and dust masks, and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) in compliance with PVSC’s Facial Hair Grooming Policy.
Working Conditions
Workers are employed in conditions associated with a wastewater treatment plant and sewer collection system and will be required to work indoors and outdoors.
Pay
The expected base pay range is $136,394 to $193,004. The specific salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including relevant experience, qualifications, education, training, and formal credentials.
