Essential Responsibilities

  • Delivers project discipline scope elements within budget and schedule.
  • Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team’s work.
  • Supervises and guides team to overall project objectives.
  • Provides senior-level technical expertise to client on project aspects within the discipline.
  • Writes proposals for future work.
  • Affords assistance with project management duties; maintains strong working relationships with clients and agency personnel.
  • Attends project coordination meetings with client and other project disciplines.
  • Maintains contact with agency staff to coordinate on project needs and to resolve issues.
  • Learns and stays knowledgeable of local agency requirements, applicable codes, and plans approval processes.
  • Attends a minimum of eight hours per year of technical and eight hours per year of managerial continuing education.
  • Maintains proficiency with production software.
  • Updates staff on what was learned.
  • Meets all requirements for Project Engineer.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Experience using Synchro/SimTraffic, SIDRA, VISTRO, VISSIM and similar software.
  • Proficient in CAD software, Civil 3D, and Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, and Project).
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in written and oral communications.
  • Ability to read and comprehend detailed correspondence and reports.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Preliminary Design Reports
  • Traffic Studies
  • Traffic Models/Simulations
  • Traffic Signal Design
  • Arterial and freeway design including roadside safety
  • Utility Coordination
  • Addressing utility/agency/project manager red lines and comments to plans

Education And Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in appropriate engineering discipline.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of experience in engineering design and/or project management.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • This position requires a Nevada Professional Engineer license, or capable of acquiring in six (6) months after hire.
  • Valid driver’s license.
