About the role
This is a non-union position at Enbridge, a company committed to delivering safe, reliable energy while driving financial excellence and innovation. Enbridge Gas Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho (UWI) seeks a Senior Engineer for its Engineering Technical Services team, a hub for ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient natural gas systems across the UWI region.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex engineering activities including standards development, specifications, design of pipelines and stations, design reviews, Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) design, geotechnical evaluations, and technical assessments.
- Provide senior technical expertise to operations, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Resolve complex technical issues independently, recommending design or standards deviations as needed.
- Integrate and coordinate engineering requirements across operations, construction, and asset management teams.
- Drive standards and specification management programs, ensuring alignment and consistency across the business.
- Support high-impact capital and maintenance projects, including risk assessments, asset integrity reviews, stakeholder communication, and mentoring of technical teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program based on the accreditation year; preference is given to civil, or geotechnical engineering fields.
- 6+ years of related paid experience in engineering design, engineering build, standards development, and frontline operations technical support within manufacturing, energy, consulting, or similar industries.
- Holds a Professional Engineering (P.E.) license or can obtain one.
- Advanced knowledge of pipeline engineering, design practices, and key industry standards (Department of Transportation Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration [DOT PHMSA], American Society Mechanical Engineers [ASME], American Petroleum Institute [API]).
- Proven ability to independently solve complex technical problems, applying strong analytical and sound engineering judgment.
- Effective communicator and collaborator, able to influence stakeholders and convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Qualifications
- Requires grasping, kneeling, lifting objects up to 20 pounds, reaching overhead, and performing repetitive movements.
- Tasks include typing, sitting, standing, and visual activities such as viewing screens, recognizing color codes, and reading fine print.
- Requires hearing ability, prolonged computer use, and the ability to work in tight spaces.
- Mental requirements include understanding, remembering, and applying oral or written instructions and other information; understanding complex problems and exploring alternative solutions collaboratively; coordinating thoughts and ideas into clear terminology; prioritizing and coordinating a short-term work schedule; making decisions with moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitoring effects beyond it; following basic instructions and guidelines; completing routine forms and composing letters, outlines, memoranda, and basic reports; communicating with individuals via telephone and other channels.
