Senior Engineer
About the role
The Agency is seeking a forward-thinking, solutions-driven Senior Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring strong communication and data analysis skills, a commitment to continuous learning, and a deep understanding of project management, office engineering, and financial tools. Familiarity with water and wastewater treatment operations is essential.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor engineering teams, conduct performance evaluations, and promote a high-performance, safety-oriented culture.
- Build relationships and communicate technical information effectively with internal departments, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Operate independently with sound engineering judgment and an understanding of organizational goals and priorities.
- Perform hydraulic analysis and experience with modeling software for sewer and pressurized flow systems.
Requirements
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in engineering, and at least ten years of focused engineering experience, or six years of progressively responsible diversified engineering and project management experience, preferably in a wastewater/water utility, four years of which were at the level of IEUA's Senior Associate Engineer-PE; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Qualifications
- A valid California Class C driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the Agency's vehicle insurance program.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California.
Skills
- Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams.
- Skilled at building relationships and communicating technical information effectively.
- Ability to operate independently with sound engineering judgment.
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
- Experience with office engineering through reviewing new connection requests, plan checks, issuing construction permits and utility research.
