Senior Engineer

About the role

The Agency is seeking a forward-thinking, solutions-driven Senior Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring strong communication and data analysis skills, a commitment to continuous learning, and a deep understanding of project management, office engineering, and financial tools. Familiarity with water and wastewater treatment operations is essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor engineering teams, conduct performance evaluations, and promote a high-performance, safety-oriented culture.
• Build relationships and communicate technical information effectively with internal departments, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
• Operate independently with sound engineering judgment and an understanding of organizational goals and priorities.
• Perform hydraulic analysis and experience with modeling software for sewer and pressurized flow systems.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in engineering, and at least ten years of focused engineering experience, or six years of progressively responsible diversified engineering and project management experience, preferably in a wastewater/water utility, four years of which were at the level of IEUA's Senior Associate Engineer-PE; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Qualifications

• A valid California Class C driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the Agency's vehicle insurance program.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California.

• Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams.
• Skilled at building relationships and communicating technical information effectively.
• Ability to operate independently with sound engineering judgment.
• Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
• Experience with office engineering through reviewing new connection requests, plan checks, issuing construction permits and utility research.
