Job Summary: Our client, a leading travel & hospitality provider, is looking for a Senior Engineer, Aircraft Security to join their Cybersecurity organization, contract (renewable), onsite 3 days/week in Fort Worth Texas. This role backfills a departing senior engineer and owns detection engineering, remediation lifecycle, and PKI engineering for aircraft/connected-system security. The team operates with high autonomy and minimal day-to-day direction, so the right candidate is a self-directed senior engineer who scopes and drives their own work rather than someone who works off an assigned queue or ticket rotation. This is explicitly not a SOC/alert-queue role. Core Responsibilities:Engineer and continuously improve detection content and analytics in Microsoft Sentinel/SIEM across aircraft and connected-system telemetryAuthor KQL queries and detection rules, build dashboards, and independently investigate security events end-to-end with strong written documentationOwn remediation plans from finding to validated closure, including vulnerability/finding trackingProvide PKI engineering depth for aircraft-security certificate use cases, including enrollment protocols (SCEP/EST), trusted-role operations, and certificate lifecycle management for certificate-based authentication and software signing/validationEngineer and operate the Absolute endpoint/device platform (SSO, policy groups, API integrations)Apply AI/agentic tooling (e.g., Claude) to accelerate detection, investigation, and remediation workRequired Skills/Experience (Must-Haves):5+ years in security engineering with demonstrated independent project ownership (not queue-based SOC analyst experience)Hands-on PKI engineering depth: SCEP/EST, Certificate Policy/Certification Practice Statement (CP/CPS), trusted roles, Levels of Assurance, NIST SP 800-63, certificate-based authentication and software signing/validation (not just certificate consumption/usage)Self-directed detection engineering in Microsoft Sentinel, including KQL/query and rule authoring and dashboard buildRemediation lifecycle ownership — tracking findings from discovery to validated closurePreferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves):Hands-on AI/agentic security tooling experience (Claude/LLM-assisted code and configuration analysis, prompt engineering for security use cases)Absolute endpoint platform engineering (SSO, policy groups, API)Scripting/automation in Python or PowerShellAviation, OT, cyber-physical, or embedded-systems exposureHSM/key-management and code-signing infrastructure experienceKey Competencies and Behaviors:Entrepreneurial, self-starting mindset — comfortable with ambiguity and given a goal rather than a task listConnects detection, remediation, and PKI into one coherent security outcome without needing task-to-task managementStrong written documentation habits for independent investigationsComfortable operating in a small, high-trust, low-bureaucracy team covering safety-sensitive systemsNot a fit for candidates seeking a steady assigned ticket queue or close daily directionWork Environment:Location: Onsite 3 days/week - Fort Worth, TexasCompensation & Benefits Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $62/hr and $68/hr.
